Limited Rider Program

YOUR NEW ADVENTURE HAS ARRIVED!

Reining sounds exciting with all the spins and stops, but you’ve only shown in western horsemanship. English sounds interesting but you consider yourself a western rider. Is there a way to try a different event, gain experience and still feel competitive? The American Quarter Horse Association now offers the limited rider program just for AQHA members wanting to try something new. Limited rider is a “class within a class” and allows you the chance to compete in a different event and learn new skills.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE IN VQHA?

The VQHA limited rider program is available to amateur competitors. To be eligible, you must not have earned 25 AQHA open, amateur or youth combined lifetime points in that skill set.

The two Amateur VQHA members who earn the highest number of points while showing in VQHA sanctioned shows, as a Limited Rider, will be honored as Champion and Reserve Champion Limited Riders for year end awards. In order to be eligible for VQHA year end awards, send a copy of your approved AQHA Limited Rider eligibility letter to the Amateur Director, Kathleen Bettinger.

Points will begin accumulating after Kathleen has received the copy of your eligibility letter from AQHA. As with other VQHA year end awards, a minimum of VQHA 12 points must be accumulated in order to be eligible for an award.
