A Note From The VQHA President!!

December 13, 2016

Hello VQHA members.

As we throw blankets on horses and anticipate agreeable weather, I thought I would keep VQHA members informed.   The Spring Breakout show is planned for March 23rd-26th in Lexington, Va.  This year it will be a 4-day show with 6 judges.  Our VQHA awards banquet will be Friday night Mar 24th following a members annual meeting.  We have one proposed bylaw change.  It has been suggested to add 2 honorary directors which would be voted into position by the VQHA board.  These honorary directors would have full voting rights.  We have the Hylton Maiden class scheduled for Saturday Evening Mar 25th.  It was decided by the VQHA board to cancel the “The Classic” for purely financial and logistical reasons.   Please spread the word and tell everyone about our shows, trail rides and youth activities.  All future events are posted on our website.   We will need every one’s support.

VQHA memberships run Jan to Dec each year.  To be considered for year-end awards horses must be nominated each year. For example: A 3-year membership or even a “life member” is still required to nominate their horse/horses each year.  Also, if an open rider (trainer) shows a member’s horse that trainer must be a VQHA member for points to count.  The nominating fee assists each year in providing great year end awards.  I’m excited that Cory Balsis is our new Membership Director and Pamela Dyson will be handling our points.  Please thank them for stepping up and engaging these difficult tasks.  Our membership and nominating forms are all on our VQHA website.

I wish to thank our members for their generous support.  I appreciate all the VQHA board members for their selfless hard work.  I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and hope to see everyone soon.  I am always available to members.  Let’s grow this association.
