Remembering Bob Purks

August 20, 2018

The horse industry has lost another true horseman. Bob Purks of King George, Virginia is now with the master of all. He will be truly missed by the Virginia Quarter Horse Association, the Maryland State Quarter Horse Association and the Virginia Palomino Association just to name a few. Bob was a dedication horseman that dearly loved and cared for his four legged passion.  Bob has not only shown at some of the largest AQHA shows, but he has had his share of winners. Bob’s health seemed to be taking it’s toll on him as it does if we live long enough. He wanted to show his fine horses as long as he could.

Last year, Bob and his loving wife Judy Purks showed at their first Palomino World Championship Show in Tunica, MS. In fact, it was their first time to show their beautiful Palomino at an approved PHBA show. They had such a wonderful time that he was determined to participate again in 2018. As ill as he was, he was determined make the long trip to Mississippi. In July, Judy and Bob headed off to Tunica for the Palomino World Championship Show with his Palomino mare and his Palomino Bred gelding that he was so excited to have in competition. He did get to see his Palomino mare shown, but had to be flown back to Virginia before seeing the gelding shown. Upon his arrival in Virginia he was immediately hospitalized. It was Bob’s last horse show.

Bob may be missed, but many will not forget him and the fine horses he bred and successfully showed.
